Victorian Human Rights Commission survey on experience of people with a disability using TAXIS

The Victorian Human Rights Commission is set to undertake research into the experiences of people with disability using taxi services in Victoria. The survey will run 5-26 February 2010.
The Commission wants to hear from individuals with a disability who have used taxis within the last six months.
A survey information sheet is available in braille, large font and
electronic versions. Participants can complete the survey:
online at www.humanrightscommission.vic.gov.au from 5 February by mail,
fax or email - please contact the Commission on 03 9032 3435 or email
liesl.l.oliver@veohrc.vic.gov.au to request a survey form. If you
require an interpreter please call 1300 152 494 or TTY 1300 289 621 in
large font (paper and electronic versions available), reply paid
envelopes are provided through disability networks - a number of
organisations are helping the Commission to distribute the survey
throughout Victoria.
Assistance to complete the survey over the phone is available, please
contact Liesl Oliver on 03 9032 3435 if you require assistance.
The survey examines a range of issues relating to the quality of taxi
services as part of a follow up to a similar survey conducted in 2006.
The research from 2006 informed the Time to Respond report which made
recommendations to government and the taxi industry on how to improve
taxi services. Three years on, the Commission is keen to find out if
things are getting better (or worse) on the ground.
The information gathered will guide improvements to the taxi industry.
In particular, results will be included in a progress report on Time to
Respond, due for release in June 2010.
Please circulate to your local services and networks. Thank you.
